LYDIA
It’s easy to define Lydia by how she started out in the world. She’s grown up in the shadow of two very smart older brothers, so it’s easy to miss how amazingly brilliant she is herself. As the baby of the family she’s always played catch-up, following the action and trying to making her mark as best she could. But there is so much more to her than the cute little girl keeping up with everyone else.
She’s frighteningly smart. (Seriously, you don’t want to debate her unless you’re pretty darn sure of your facts.) She’s passionate about the things she pursues. She’s beautiful, something that isn’t all that important to her but that doesn’t stop it from being very true. She’s cautious in her affections, but those she loves are loved intensely, with a kindness and selflessness that truly embody the word “friendship.”
I’m not sure she sees how wonderful she is. That’s the gift I wish I could give her. For her to realize how truly amazing she really is. That she is more than her past, more than her fears. She is a strong, smart, beautiful woman capable of doing whatever she wishes. She’s loved by so many because of who she is, not in spite of it. That she deserves all that love, and more. So much more.
I love my blonde sister.
Happy Birthday Wonderful You.
